The History of the DUSK Bag

Now that the official ‘DUSK Bag: Pattern’ has been released, let’s take a look back at how this iconic bag came to be.

It all started when I posted this video at the beginning of 2024.

From here, I began getting tons of comments. Everything from feedback, to tutorial requests, and even people asking to purchase it! It felt like the first design I had made that not only I, but other people were excited about. I felt like a real designer. However, I knew there was room to grow, so I took the feedback and made my design better, and so a larger, shoulder bag size was introduced.

I continued posting about the DUSK bag, receiving tons of love and support for my work. It truly warmed my heart. My brand and my work were gaining popularity, with some videos gaining hundreds of thousands of views!

People were eager to get a pattern for my design. On any given day, I had 5-10 people asking for a tutorial. It was something I wasn’t used to!

At first, I was against it. I didn’t want to be known only in the crochet community and only as a pattern maker. My goals for LOOSENDS have always been to bring my crochet to the mainstream. I want to people to invest in my work, and for it to become a fashion brand that anyone can fall in love with.

So what was the switch? What changed my mind?

In all honesty, I started seeing the DUSK bag everywhere. Crocheters were tired of waiting for my pattern. Other businesses saw the popularity it was receiving and wanted to profit off of it. My design was getting stolen without any credit.

I’m not here to talk about them, but it’s important to discuss this narrative within the crochet community, of our work being taken without proper credit. Honestly, it’s tired, and I don’t understand it.

This brings us to now. I made the decision to release my first ever pattern, and it’s been a HUGE success! I am so grateful to see the crochet commumity support my work.

Although my goals remain the same, I’m proud that I decided to release the “DUSK Bag: Pattern” Get yours today!
